Dear Digital photographers of DeviantArt:
As a student at Front Range Community College, and aspiring artist, I am preparing a report (deadline 11/10/2009) comparing my camera, a Fujifilm FinePix S5100, with a Canon Rebel SLR Digital. I wish to investigate whether the work of a freelance illustrator can be performed with the former, or if the latter category of camera is a necessary investment. Always I marvel at the photography skills of DA users. If you have time to answer the following questions, I would be delighted to benefit from your experiences.
1. How long have you been a photographer?
2. What is the purpose of your photography?
3. What variety of camera do you use? Why?
a. If that camera is not your favorite, what is?
4. Have you explored its limits?
5. Have you used any, most, or all of the applications found in the user manual?
a. Or have you learned by experimentation?
6. What features do you find most functional in your camera?
7. What weaknesses have you found?
8. What features do you use most often?
9. How effective are they automatic " point and shoot " settings?
10. How do you feel about settings for:
a. Portraits
b. Landscape
c. Macro-
d. Micro-
e. Low lighting
f. Filters
11. Anything else you want to say about either your photography career or experience?
